Lux Boudoir is a woman-owned-and-operated boudoir photography studio created for women to feel empowered in themselves and their individual beauty; this includes trans women and any woman-identifying person. We pride ourselves on creating a safe, inclusive space for our clients where they can reconnect with and celebrate themselves.
We were so honoured to work with Amber, and when she approached us about using her photos to help celebrate Pride month, we were incredibly excited. We know how much visibility matters! While we always respect our client’s privacy first and foremost, we appreciate it when clients are confident and comfortable enough for us to share their photos and tell their stories. When other women see themselves represented in our client stories, they feel more confident in gifting themselves a life-changing boudoir experience.
As allies, we are excited to celebrate Pride and the progress that has been made for the rights and freedoms of people in the LGBTQIA+ community. It is equally important to remember both where we have come from, and how much more work needs to be done. Pride is both celebration and awareness.
We are excited to share Amber’s photos and her story with you. We are humbled that she trusted us with her first boudoir experience, which was a big moment in her own journey. Being a part of a woman’s self-love journey is a privilege we do not take lightly.
Why did you decide to do a boudoir photoshoot?
When I present as Amber, I always enjoy crossdressing as I’m absolutely mesmerized by my transformation. I’m always trying to achieve the most feminine and beautiful image I can with the goal of looking passable. I’ve always dressed up in the privacy of my own home and have kept this side of me a secret. Now that I’m getting older, I thought a boudoir shoot would be a great way to capture Amber’s beauty and pay tribute to this special side of me.
What was your favourite part of your boudoir experience?
When I arrived for my session I showed up in male mode as I thought I would be most comfortable getting to the shoot that way. After going through our options for outfits with the girls, my favourite part of the session was the makeover. I don’t often do my own makeup at home, usually only a handful of times per year, so having a professional makeover was truly amazing. Once I was all glammed up, I got to introduce the girls to Amber for their first time!
What did doing this boudoir photoshoot do for your self confidence, self worth and self image?
Being a crossdresser of many years, I have always dreamed about doing a boudoir photo shoot over the years, but I never built up the courage to actually go out and do it. This past year I finally built up the courage when I reached out to Lux Boudoir to see if they would be comfortable doing a transgender boudoir photography shoot. The response from Lux was very warm and welcoming, that alone gave me an initial boost in self confidence that I was doing the right thing. The experience at Lux was extremely comfortable and fun, I really enjoyed my day at the studio as I got to be the queen for the day! After seeing the final results, I was extremely proud of my decision. I now have some beautiful photos of Amber that I can cherish for years to come.
What advice do you have for others who are considering doing a boudoir photoshoot?
If you are a crossdresser or enjoy a transgender lifestyle and are interested in doing a boudoir photoshoot, I highly recommend you reach out to the Lux Boudoir team and schedule a shoot. You will look and feel amazing, the experience was very comfortable and fun. You will end up with some of the best photos you could imagine, treat yourself, you’re worth it!
